Hi there! My name is Michaela Cahoon I am a senior and graduate student at SUNY Plattsburgh. I am currently studying Communication Disorders and Sciences and Adolescent English Education; I will graduate in 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences, a Bachelor’s degree in English Language Arts, and a Master’s degree in Secondary Education.

Beyond school I am an avid reader and writer. Some of my favorite authors include Charles Dickens, Shakespeare, Mary Shelley, Harper Lee, and Dr. Seuss. I have had one paper published through SUNY Plattsburgh but beyond that I have not produced anything worth publishing. However, I believe publishing should not be the end goal of writing – writing should be a medium to express yourself. I can also frequently be found on a basketball court or a softball field as both a player and a coach (this is my first season as head coach!). I also have a knack for spewing random literary facts or quotes. My favorite quote that I live by, though it does not come from a work of literature, is "don't be the rule, be the exception."

I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a young child and here I am! I suppose you could say my life is on the right track.  I hope to spread my love of English with everyone – even if it is through a lame literary joke!
