My History of Work in Science

I attended the University of California, San Diego, graduating with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology in 2005.  While attending UCSD, I was able to work in several different areas of biology.  I was an undergraduate assistant in the lab of Dr. Christopher Wills, working on his research involving the evolution of competitive ability.  Subsequently I worked on an independent research project under the direction of Dr. Kaustuv Roy.  This project involved a year and a half of using a microscope to remove ostracodes (a small shrimp relative) from samples of algae. We then discovered that specific species of ostracode seemed to be found only on specific species of algae.  I worked in a psychology research facility and a chemistry lab for a year each after graduation.  I have also worked in the education department of 3 different aquariums for the last 8 years both as a volunteer and an employee.
