I think that the biggest part of teaching, is the relationship you establish with a student.
As a student, I did not feel that many of my teachers were relatable and my schoolwork was definitely influenced by that.
When I encountered teachers who were relatable and established non-superficial relationships with students, I found that I really cared about learning from them and was more interested in their classes.
Especially with adolescents, the student-teacher relationship is key. If you can not establish this and relate to students, the learning environment suffers.

My goal as a teacher is to form relationships with my students in which they are comfortable, feel respected, and feel valued, so we can create an environment together in which we can all learn and grow.
