My name is Fred Merritt. I grew up in Poughkeepsie, NY which is located about an hour and a half north of New York City. As an adolescent I was on my high school crew team. Although I don't row anymore it is still a passion of mine. I was also in the future bussiness leaders of America club and the Animal Rights club. I spend my free time reading books by authors such as Kerouac and Vonnegut and I have a special interest in the romantic European poets such as Keats and Cooleridge as well as the American Romantic writers such as Emerson and Melville. I started my higher education at Dutchess Community College and graduated with an ascociates degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences. Afterwards I attended SUNY Plattsburgh for both my Bacholors Degree as well as my masters degree. I recieved the former in English Language Arts and the latter in Adolescent Education grades 7-12. I plan on continuing my education by enrolling in a phd program in hopes of recieving a doctorate in educational admistration. Prior to this I would like to teach high school level english and eventually move up into administartion. Afterwards I would like to retire from administartion and become a college profesor teaching.
