Letter of Interest

To Whom It May Concern:

I am very excited about the prospect of becoming a teacher in your school district.  I am seeking full-time permanent employment as a science teacher.  I believe that my strong science background combined with my creative and energetic teaching skills will be a great asset to your educational program

I have had a considerable amount of relevant professional experience that makes my teaching distinctive.  While completing my Master’s degree at Cornell University, I was a teaching assistant for an undergraduate biology course where I guided students in designing research projects and writing scientific papers.  As the Johnson O’Malley Program tutor at J.W. Leary Junior High, I worked closely with Native American students to help them succeed academically and strengthen their cultural identity.  I am currently student teaching at Salmon River Central School—teaching 9th grade Living Environment and 7th grade physical science—in completion of a certification in Biology Adolescent Education (7-12) in May.

Through these teaching experiences, I have discovered a love for teaching and a desire to instill a love of learning in my students.  I want to be an innovative and inspiring teacher that is always self-assessing, improving, and most importantly, learning.  I plan on continually learning new skills, concepts and ideas that will help me to grow as a teacher.  I want to have a classroom where students are able to grow and thrive.

With outstanding organizational, classroom management and pedagogical skills, I am confident that I will succeed as a member of your district.  I thank you for your consideration and I look forward to speaking with you to discuss the value that my strengths can bring to your district.  I will be contacting you next week to confirm that you have received my application materials.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via e-mail or at the telephone number listed above.

Sincerely,

Cristina R. David
