I am currently a sophomore at SUNY Plattsburgh studying graphic design. I decided to go into Graphic Design because I have always loved art. My grandfather was an artist and most of my family also enjoys art. Ever since I was little I have always been drawing and making designs. Since I grew up with parent who both loved art, they always encouraged me to express myself through drawing and painting.
I always loved art but I never actually thought of it as a career option. Coming to SUNY Plattsburgh I found out that there are many jobs for art majors. I looked into a lot of graphic design jobs; the job of an art director caught my eye. An art director is in charge of the overall visual appearance and how it communicates visually, stimulates moods, contrasts features, and psychologically appeals to a target audience. The art director makes decisions about visual elements used, what artistic style to use, and when to use motion. I like this career because I find it very interesting how different elements such as color and shape can affect people’s opinions and decisions.
I am a very organized person. I love making plans, and having goals. Whenever I am interested in something I always research it and make sure that it is a reasonable goal. I have always been very organized, I love making lists for everything I need to do, and things I need to get. Even though I prefer things in my life to be planned, when something unexpected happens I am able to come up with a quick solution to solve the problem.
