    For Professionals:
                TEDed: This website works within same mission statement as its' parent group TED which is to spread benefical ideas.  TEDed is a website to promote the spread of usefull and exceptional educational videos and lesson plans that go with them.
                 CNN: Commerical News Network a website to stay connected with curernt events in both national and international news.
                 NPR: National Public Radio a website to stay connected with curernt events in both national and international news.
                 BBC: British Broadcast Corperation a website to stay connected with curernt events in both national and international news.
                 FOX news: A website to stay connected with curernt events in both national and international news.
                 National Geographic education: A part of the national georaphic website geared for educators providing them with  information.
                 Edmodo: This website provides a safe online enviroment for students adn also a area that teachers can post information, create dropboxes, and administer online quizes.  The site is free to use.
                 PBS: PBS has a provided an online resource to teachers (specifically social studies) were they can post and look at lesson plans and other educational materials.
     For Students:
               scholar.google: This website will help when searching for resource and scholarly articles for the papers in the class.
               Planetbook.com: This website provides a large colection of free ebooks many of which are classics and would make good    aditions to a reading list.

                 New York Times search: The New York Times is a good site to search for primary resources by uses their online data base    to find news paper articles form the time period you are researching.
                JSTOR: This is an academic search engine that will provided you with scholarly resources.  This resources will be helpful with writing papers and doing research.
                 Prudue online writing lab: This is an online resource that will provided examples and instructions on how to cite information in Chigaco format, the format we will use for this class, also other methods of citation can be found such as MLA and APA.
                 Today in history: This is a part of the history channel website that enables the user to look up dates and see the historical events that happened on that day.

     For Parents:

                PBSparents: A branch of the pbs website devoted to helping parents help their children with their education.  While the webbsite is geared towards parents with young children some tips may be useful for older children
                 "Collaborating for scuccess:"
This website is part of the Michigan Department of Education website that is dedicated to parent envolvement in students education.  It out lines ways in which a parent can be positivley involved in thier students edcuation as well as the many benenfits to a student if their parents are positivley involved in their school life. 
                  Bullying and social interaction information:  Some useful information about how to be best prepared for having a student in high school and how tumultuous the years may be socially adn psychologically as well as scholasticly for students.  With that in mind this web sight is in no means an alternative to notifing the school district if your student is experiensing serious issues such as bullying but rather a place were you as a parent can find information on how to better help your student.
