Blog 4: Response to “Broadcasting, Cable, the Internet and Beyond"
My views of the internet haven’t really changed. I don’t feel as if my internet habits have changed either. Although, I feel as if I learned a lot from this reading because never knew who was responsible for keeping the internet going and what standards and guidelines. I think it’s good that a single organization doesn’t control the internet. This way, the internet can be running to benefit of everyone and not just a single organization. I’m concerned with certain information that a person can retrieve if they know how to look and where to look for it. I’m not concerned with the future of the internet; I feel that it will only become bigger and better. It’s kind of hard to imagine something the internet can’t do. You can research anyone or anything and buy anything on the internet. I look forward to seeing what the internet brings us in the future.
Blog 3: Response to “Adaptive and Assistive Technologies”
I learned that there is a lot of easy and simple A&AT right in front of you, such as all the different things you can do with a computer with the right combination of certain keys. I also learned that there are many different A&AT that I haven’t seen or heard of yet and the websites gave me a better understanding of technologies available to students. It’s very important for industries to support these technologies. If they do not, then they will lose out to other industries due to people with disabilities not being able to access the industry’s services.
I see A&AT evolving a lot. As I mentioned before, there are many different A&AT I haven’t seen or heard of yet. Student Support Services has a lot of excellent A&AT. The laptop that Adam was using was remarkable. I feel this is a good place to go look for new A&AT. I also see the internet as a very powerful tool that can be used to help someone learn drastically. I always knew that it was helpful, but I never realized how important it could be to someone’s education.
Blog 2: Response to “Mass Media Law”
I found out by reading this article and looking at the websites that there are a lot more laws regarding accreditation regarding someone’s work. I’m always careful and plagiarism and citing proper sources, but now I will be sure to double check my sources and always be sure to give accreditation to my sources. After reading this article and the websites, I don’t feel as if my online habits will change that much. I also think that file sharing is necessarily a bad thing at all. It’s something that a lot of people enjoy and should be able to do.
Blog 1: Response to “Podcasting and Aggregators”
Podcasting is a great way to listen to new music without any hassle, and the best part about it, is that it’s free. Aggregators are also great. Their really easy to use and can save someone a lot of time checking their favorite sites everyday. The name of my aggregator is Pluck.
Podcasting is great, but I don’t see myself recording one. Although, I do think it would be fun to let my students try to record one. Podcasts will help the mainstream media because it will get more people involved. They will become more and more popular as time goes on because they are so easy to use and free of cost. This is why I think students will like it and that it is here to stay.
