- Simple Truths for Teachers
Mass Media Law
This article was interesting and explained the importance of understanding
copyright laws. As a teacher, it is good to know what can and cannot be copied
or reproduced. It is important to know that under fair use, teaching is one
category that is protected. However, there are still guidelines that need to be
followed to still fall under protection of fair use. As teachers, it is
important to familiarize ourselves with these guidelines to make sure that we do
not commit copyright infringement.
Student Support Center
It was interesting to see that there are many services available for students with disabilities here at Plattsburgh. This allows students to get the assistance they need in order to have a positive educational experience. I was very surprised to find out that they also made maps in brail, that was something that I had never imagined. As a teacher, I found it useful to learn about the different kinds of services that can be offered to students with disabilities. They can help us teach our students better.
“Broadcasting, Cable, the Internet, and Beyond”
When we were assigned to read the article, "Broadcasting, Cable, the Internet, and Beyond", I was convince that the information would go right over my head. As I was reading the article, I was surprised at how easy the article was to understand especially when I am not a computer literate person. I did not realize how much history was behind the internet that we all know today. I always thought that the internet was a new technology but the idea actually started around the 1970's. Even when the author talked about technology terms such as portals and domain name, the definitions that we given were easy to understand. This article has helped give me a better understanding of how far technology has come and is still going today.
