Blog # 4: Student Support Services:
Throughout all the years that I have attended SUNY Plattsburgh, I never knew all the services that Student Support Services offered to students with disabilities. The tour through the office and the different resources that they offered were amazing. I really enjoyed the computer program. Although it seemed hard to work through the program, the lady reassured us that it was easier than it appeared. Another thing that I found interesting was the brail map of the world. I have never seen a brail map before. The only devices I have ever seen for visually impaired persons is the brail on the elevators and on some signs throughout the school. I never knew they had such services at Student Support Services or SUNY Plattsburgh in general.
I always knew that Student Support Services offered note takers. I never knew of all the different devices that they offered for dyslexia and other disorders. One of my residents uses the books on tape for her classes because she is diagnosed with dyslexia. These devices help her greatly in doing her school work. It is easier for her to read along with the taped book then to just read it without. Student Support Services offers many different services to students that they are not aware of. Student Support Services should hold a informational or hand out flyers for the students to inform them about their services.
The two websites were useful sources of information. I never thought about how people who are visually impaired used the internet or computer in general. I never knew that web developers had guidelines to abide to for disable persons. Also I was unfamiliar with section 508 laws on web designing. Both of these websites are good for web designers.

Blog # 3: Mass Media Law:
Copyright Laws are something that people are aware of but do not fully understand. Many people know that there are copyright laws on music, but they still continue to download music. The reason why I believe people still continue to download music is because they are truly unaware of the laws and the consequences. Over the past years, copyright laws have changed so much that people do not care to keep up with them. People continue to download thousands of songs a day. If the courts order for a close out one form of Peer to Peer Sharing, another one will form. This is a vicious cycle that I don't not believe will ever stop. The main concern is on college campuses. Thousands of people download everyday, multiple forms of music. I know I have download songs before. For me, Peer to Peer Sharing is positive. The reason why I say it is positive is because I will download a couple of songs from the album and listen to them. If I like them, I will support the group or singer and buy the album. If I like more than one of their albums, I would also support them by going to their concert or something of that format. I found it interesting that copying some material is legal in some cases and illegal in other cases. Many people who are 10-11 years of age do not know the difference between legal and illegal when it comes to this issue of copyrighting. Many students that age are still copying and pasting off the internet. If we want to stop people from illegally sharing files or information, we should think of a way to do it so that people who break the law are familiar with the laws and consequences.

Blog # 2: Podcasting:
Podcasting is something I knew very little about before reading the article. I really did not grasp the concept of podcasting until I saw the last page with all the illustrations. I would like to try to use podcasting but I would need more instruction on how to use it. I would like to use it for the future and I am sure a lot more people will use it as time goes on and more people will become aware of how to use this new form of downloading music. I like the fact that you can create your own radio station because I am one of those people who hate when a song comes on that I don't like. I also hate radio commercials. to me, they are extremely annoying. Podcasting would eliminate this factor.

Blog # 1: Broadcasting, Cable, the Internet, and Beyond:
For starters, I love the computer. The reason why I have such a love for it is because I think it is absolutely amazing the things you can do on it. The internet appeals to me even more. All the different things that you can find on the web is crazy. I mean anything, absolutely anything you want you could find on the web. There are multiple positives and negatives to the web.
Some positive aspects of the web is being able to find unique and hard to find items, find family members, communicate with people across the world, and many other things. People now have the opportunity to shop and do things they enjoy just by a few clicking of the buttons. For the younger generation, I see computers and the internet being a necessity. As of right now, so many college students use computers on an everyday basis for multiple things. Computers have helped many people in their everyday lives.
Some negative aspects of the web is that creates an informal way of communicating with others, could be unsafe for children, and may lose information based on the little knowledge that some people have. The reason why I say that it creates an informal way of communicating with others is because many people have a hard time actually speaking to another person or in front of a large crowd, but on the computer, it is no problem. Also, instant messaging is so popular among people that more and more of use are losing that personal interaction with their peers. The web could be a scary place for children. Children may go onto websites if their parents have not placed parental restrictions on them. Also children may be talking to complete strangers and something may happen. Information can also be lost on the computer in general if you don’t know how to backup your work. I have seen this happen plenty of times.
In the article and the websites, I found out more information about the web and different services that the internet provides. I thought it was interesting to see how many different businesses were trying different ways to progress in this fast growing business. Especially AOL. I also like how they talking about p2p. This affects many students on this campus as well as others all over the world. I soon they will have a settlement about that because many students do not know the difference. This causes a problem for everyone. The internet can be a useful resource tool but it can also cause many problems in peoples lives. I think they should give computer courses in high school for students coming into college.
