Introduction:
As we grow up, we associate different songs with different events and time periods of our life. For different people, different cultures, and different locations, these songs can be different.
Task:
Your task is to find a children's song with a composer from either your childhood or from another culture/country.
Questions to Consider while you listen to the various songs:
1. What do you feel while you listen to these songs?
2. Am I familiar with the song?
3. What can I learn about the composer?
4. What is the song talking about? What is its meaning?
Process:
1. Explore at least two of the following sites. Listen to one or two songs from each site.
http://www.kididdles.com/mouseum/subject.html
http://www.duchessathome.com/childrensongs/index.html
http://www.niehs.nih.gov/kids/musicchild.htm
2. Visit the following site to learn more about children's songs and nursery ryhmes.
http://www.librarysupport.net/mothergoosesociety/who.html
3. For this site, read the main page, then "Big-Foot Rena," "Mary Mack," and "Sweetheart Songs." For each of these pages is an accompanying video and song.

4. Next, pick one of the songs that you listened to from the above websites. Going back to the "task" section, answer each of the questions in a paragraph.
5. Many children's songs and nursery rhymes are little stories that we enjoy, can laugh over, and can even learn from. Using the same song you wrote the paragraph on, become either the composer or a character from the song. On the assigned day, we will each dress up and role play our person for the class-answering questions and talking about our song.
6. Assessment: Below are the rubrics that will be used to evaluate your work.
