Podcasting April 9, 2008
I think podcasting is a great technology. It
allows us to download things
at our convenience and legally. I would use podcasting in my classroom. I
would be able to find good podcasts that could benefit my teaching and my
student’s learning. I think that is beneficial for students to use and
learn how to use them. I think that there is an educational value to
podcasts. I might create my own podcasts for my students and if I was
teaching a middle of high school class, I might consider my students make
one. I feel more students should become more familiar with podcasts, it
could be to their benefit. Students tend to be more technology knowledgeable
than
most adults. The way has been paved for most future teachers.
Mass Media Law April 1, 2008
After reading this article on the Mass Media laws, a lot of the information given, I had no idea existed. An example is the copy right laws and the details about the Fair Use Act. Me being a college student, I know about the laws on plagiarism, they are usually quoted on each syllabus for each class. I try to be careful on how I use the internet in my research and citing them properly. Some of my habits on the internet have changed and I do think more about what I am doing. When it comes to peer to peer sharing, I can understand where the companies are coming from. Being a young adult and a fan of all kinds of music I think this problem will always be around as long as the internet is in use.Student Support Center February 12,2008
Our class had visited the student support center in the Angel College Center here at SUNY Plattsburgh. We were all shown the technologies that are used for people with disabilities. My favorite thing that we were shown were all the little gadgets that were used for things like books on tape, automatic door openers, and a gadget that flashes the lights when the phone rings. Another very interesting thing that we were shown was the atlas made for a blind student. The maps and text were all in brail on the pages.
