This website would be very useful for teaching students about other countries.  It is a site dedicated to the flags of the world.  The site not only displays the flag for every country in the world but it also will then go on to give pertinent information about each country such as a map, geography, people, government, economy, etc.

            This is the official site for Public Broadcasting.  It is wonderful for children and includes everything from video clips to interactive games for students.  The materials cover all of the disciplines and could likely be applied to many lessons.  The website also has a section dedicated to teachers which is loaded with lesson plans.

            This is the history channel website.  It is one of the best sites to use for teaching social studies.  It also includes many games for students as well as information about mostly anything dealing with history.  It covers not only US history but also world history as well.

            This website is a link off of the CNN website.  It just gives students an opportunity to view new articles that deal with education.  Also it can be linked to the main CNN page to view current events.

            A teacher's guide to using political cartoons in the classroom at all grade levels. This web site contains an excellent collection of political cartoons organized by artists' names and by state. This is a great tool for teaching current events and can also be included in the Language Arts, Journalism, and Art curriculum.

This site contains maps and photographs of different countries and cultures.  It also provides up to date information about historical findings and cultural changes from around the world

            -This is news website from the U.K.  This provides a different perspective on world, and United States news.  Useful for research and connect current events to historical events.

            -Great website to obtain information about all the countries of the world. It includes such things as population, per capita income, infectious diseases, maps, and much more useful information.

http://www.factmonster.com/

            -This site provides information for many social studies topics such as: people, geography, world history, the United States, and much more.  It also provides information for other subjects like math and economics.  Links are also included for atlases, dictionaries, almanacs, and dictionaries.

http://www.loc.gov/

            -Very interactive site that provides educational games that deal with a variety of social studies issues.  It also provides important information when writing papers such as how to site properly and online laws.  Lesson plans and other teaching aids are also available from this site.
