Introduction
In this WebQuest, you will learn about various geometric shapes by using the internet and a digital camera. Keep reading to find out your directions!
Task #1
Please visit the following website to learn more about various geometric shapes. Then answer the questions associated with the websites on a word document, print them out, and hand them in when you are finished.

2. How many sides does a heptagon have?
3. What is the definition of a rhombus?
4. What is a line segment that joins the center to any point on the circle called?
5. What is the definition of a polygon?
6. What is the sum of the angles of a triangle?
7. What are the 2 sides of the trapezoid that are parallel called?
8. What is a 9-sided polygon called?
9. What is the sum of the angles of a quadrilateral?
10. What is a 4-sided polygon with 2 pairs of parallel sides called?
Task # 2
1. Please go to http://tlsbooks.com/preschoolshapes.htm .
2. Click on the link "Label the Shapes" and print out the worksheet.
3. Go back to the page with the links.
4. Click on the link "Following Directions" and print out the worksheet.
5. Follow the directions on the worksheets then hand them in when you are finished.
Task # 3
1. After handing in the worksheets, find an available digital camera.
2. Choose one of the geometric shapes you have just learned about.
3. Locate an object in the classroom that represents this shape and take a picture of it with the digital camera.
4. Load the picture to a word document, label what it is, what shape it represents, and why you chose it.
5. Print the worksheet and hand it in when you are finished.
Process
Once I have all of your papers, I'll look at them to make sure you answered the questions correctly. I'll grade the worksheets and hand them back to you. During tomorrow's writing time, you will work with a partner and share the pictures that you took today.
Evaluation
The worksheets you hand in will be graded and you will receive participation points for researching the websites and answering the questions.
