My hometown is Woodstock New York, and wouldn't have wanted it to be anywhere else. In the fall of 2007, after graduating from Kingston High School, I began my freshman year at Plattsburgh State University. I am in our Communication Department, majoring in Public Relations as well as holding a minor in Broadcasting Management.I work as a tour guide on campus, and have become very involved in our admissions department.
When arriving at Plattsburgh, right away I became very involved in our campus television station, PSTV. First semester freshmen year I hosted the weekly news on PSTV. In the semesters to follow I have be the co-host, and now host, of a comedic version of jeopardy, called Smarty Pants. I thouroughly enjoy being involved in out campus televison station, and plan to coninue my involvment throughout my time here at Plattsburgh.
Aside from out television station I am very invloved in our admissions office, and my job as a tourguide on campus. I enjoy giving tours, and working with prospective students. It's a great opportunity to allow your school to shine in it's best possible light, as well as exercising your public speaking, and presentation skills. Through admissions I have been able to get very involved in our First Year Council, and Freshmen Experience Propgram. I have become the student representative for the council, and work with the faculty to make the transition for our first year students as smooth as possible. My involvement in both those areas led me to be the guest speaker this past fall in the 2008 Freshmen Matriculation Ceremony. It was one of the best experiences I have had with public speaking, as well as a wonderful opportunity.
These are all experiences that have helped me work on and learn more about broadcasting and public relations two fields in which I wish to one day persue a career in.
